My name is Samantha. I am a Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Granddaughter. I am not a professional photographer or writer, nor do I wanna be. My world however does revolve around my love for my family and food. I am a culinary arts major graduate from Galveston College. In 2009 I opened my very own bakery The Sweet Escape with my oldest sister Amanda. After 6 long months we made the decision to close our doors. It wasn't until 6 months later that I would even consider getting back in the kitchen. That's when I met my wonderful husband John, and I have been in the kitchen every since =) Thank you Handsome.
These are my wonderful parents. Without them I would not have a backbone to standup to the world and go after my dreams. They paid my way through culinary school, and backed us on the bakery and even helped with the remodeling and running the kitchen. Those are times I wish I would have taken more advantage of and not been so rotten about. I am smart enough though to hold on to the memories we made there. Very proud moment in my life.
My sisters and I in order of oldest to youngest and I must say ones just a good as the next :) We fight like cats and dogs but love each other no less at the end of the day. We were all born within 5 years of each other so we have had a very close relationship our entire lives. They are 3 of my best friends along with my Mother. I am very appreciative that they are so forgiving of things I say and my actions. They have definitely lived up to the true meaning of unconditional love.
This Brekyn my Nephew. Mr. Picky when it comes to food. He eats like a man but has a very particular menu of what he is willing to eat. He is pretty awesome though and if you want a genuine critic of what you have just made he will be the one to do it. His favorites revolve around good boy cookies (my mothers chocolate chip cookies) and mild hot wings. He is a mans man.
Here is Miss Rylee Roo my favorite oldest Niece. She is a beauty and cooking for her is so much fun. She eats avocados whole and loves food with a little spice. She has the attitude of a priss but is always so animated with her response about how wonderful your food is that is makes it all worth while.
Then here is Searcy. My wonderful, loving, crazy boxer. She is the one that gets all the left overs and she is always more than obliging when it comes to scarfing them down. My Husband and her have a hate to love and love to hate relationship. She is putty in his hands though, just doesn't want me to know.
Did I mention I like to cook? Here is a glimpse of my recipe collection. On this shelf you will find anything from cowboy cooking to French Cuisine. I am very versatile with my pallet and I can't lie I just love cook books. I will be referencing several of these throughout my blog because I definitely have some favorites I can't wait to share. I'll be sharing my recipes from when I was a kid, ones my Husband and I have ventured in replicating and ones even from the bakery.
I know people always have secret recipes, but honestly I rather share them and have people get to enjoy good food then have them sit lifeless on pages.
